Made by weavers who have been doing it for generations.

A CENTURIES-OLD ART

"A home reaches a certain feeling when there's a handmade carpet on the floor. Ours are made by hand, over months, for the room that always gets remembered."

Hand-knotted

Months, by hand.

A hand-knotted carpet is exactly what the name says: a person, at a loom, tying knots by hand. One knot at a time, row by row, over several months. The materials change — wool, silk, cotton, sometimes all three — and so does the design, but the making doesn't. It is the same craft that was practised five hundred years ago in this part of India, and there is still no faster version of it.

Hand-tufted

Plush, by hand.

Some rooms want a carpet that's plush underfoot, made for sinking into. Some want bold colour or a contemporary pattern that wouldn't work at a higher knot count. Hand-tufting handles both. The carpets are made by hand in our workshops, and finished in weeks rather than months.

About

Why we started.

We started TrueKnot because something didn't quite add up. Some of the best carpets in the world are made in India, but very few of them STAY in India. We curate the ones that belong here, and are working to make this craft as appreciated at home as it has long been everywhere else.
