Care
• Vacuum regularly on low suction, without a beater bar or rotating brush.
• Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub.
• For deeper cleaning, we recommend professional rug cleaning only.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to minimise fading.
• Keep away from excessive moisture and damp areas.
• Rotate the rug periodically to ensure even wear.
• Some shedding is natural with handmade rugs and will reduce over time.
• Do not pull loose fibres; carefully trim them with scissors if required.
Vellum looks like a page that has been written on twice — some motifs stated clearly, others left as ghosts in the ground.
The field is an ivory-grey that shifts tone across the width, and over it sit quatrefoils outlined in a chalky pale blue, spaced out on a loose grid.
Olive-brown flourishes anchor the corners of each square, the only real depth of colour in an otherwise very pale carpet, and slim drawn frames hold faint tonal leaves that you only notice on second look.
That restraint is the whole idea: it is a neutral, but a neutral with something happening inside it rather than a flat wash of beige.
It is hand tufted in 100% wool at a low loop pile, and the outlines are raised very slightly so the pattern holds even where the colours nearly meet.
Use it where light is good and the surroundings are quiet — pale plaster, linen upholstery, dark wood for contrast.
