Strata is built from long bands running the length of the carpet, each one stacked with short, uneven dashes like layers seen in a rock face.
The bands shift between black, charcoal and deep navy, broken by runs of ivory and soft grey that flicker through the dark ground.
Hand tufted in wool, the dashes are worked row by row, which is its own kind of layering.
